Our clubhouse feel encourages young artists to express themselves by learning various art techniques through fun and engaging lessons. Meet Your Instructor
Ms. Mazzy E. Akaba is a California Credentialed Teacher in Art & Physical Education for PreK-12th grades. She loves making art and finds children’s artistic creativity endlessly inspiring. In 1999, Ms. Mazzy began her adventure teaching art to children with the Precita Eyes Muralists Organization in San Francisco. She has continued to teach in Bay Area public schools, as well as internationally. Ms. Mazzy believes in a student led approach to creating art, teaching the artistic skills needed and then guiding the student to create their best work according to individual needs. All art projects can be modified according to needs and ages.
The Studio
Ms. Mazzy's art studio kitchen, nestled in the Oakland Hills, provides inspiring views that foster creativity, with a homelike feel. Class size is small, giving students ample space and access to numerous art supplies. Sessions are extended outdoors when weather permits, incorporating enriching nature walks. At the Art Star Time! Studio, students, of all ages, are encouraged to try new artistic mediums and build upon learned artistic skills. Students create art, together and solo, providing encouragement and feedback for each other, to become better artists & thinkers, learning how to see the world around them in a deeper way.
